Have a Barbecued Lunch Inside of a Renovated Plane at Richard’s Lunchbox

If you’re craving barbecue in the Tulare area, Richard’s Lunchbox can’t be beat. This authentic Southern-style eatery is located inside of an old airplane—that’s right, a real airplane—with quaint, stylish décor and a cozy feel. Wooden airplane cargo crates act as chairs against small, two-seater tables, and the kitchen is located in what was once the plane’s cockpit.
While the restaurant is understandably small, the flavors that come out of its kitchen are larger than life; tri-tip sandwiches, barbecued chicken platters and tender, juicy ribs are all served with macaroni salad, homemade coleslaw and flavorful potatoes, and there are also juicy burgers if you’re in the mood for something simpler. With an additional large patio area outside filled with wooden picnic tables, it’s always easy to find a seat at Richard’s Lunchbox.
